I am not sure whether you mean in the wild, or as pets.As pets...I have two pet guinea pigs myself. We keep ours indoors in a plastic cage with metal bars. We also have a run so they can run outside and eat the grass when the weather is nice.I also have friends who have guinea pigs, but they have theirs as outdoor guinea pigs, where they are kept in a wooden hutch all through the year.If you are getting a pet guinea pig then keep it inside while it is a baby, and then you can choose if you want it outside or inside from then on.For wild guinea pigs...Wild guinea pigs live on mountains and grassland in Peru, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay.That's all I know about where wild one live, sorry!! Guinea pigs can be kept both indoors and outdoors.

You can build a hutch outdoors, lined with newspaper in the summer and stronger insulated bedding in the winter. Alternatively, a small enclosure indoors will suffice as well.
