People mistakenly assume that a possum "plays" possum, when in actuality they literally faint and give off an awful smell which usually will cause whatever is after them to leave. They stay in this state for about 15 minutes before they get up and stagger off like they are drunk. So, I think it's a moot point about a fight between the two because possums are really rather docile so they probably wouldn't attack, especially something bigger than them, which a raccoon is. From what I know about raccoons, they prefer to to flee rather than fight too. FYI....possums are one of the few, if not the only mammal that does not carry rabies.

Lowes and Home Depot sell insulation that you can install yourself. It would probably be a good idea to remove the raccoon and opossum before attempting to do such a project though. Local animal control contractors should be able to help you in that regard.
