The heaviest wild lion on record is one male man-eater of 690 pounds (313 kg) shot in Hectorspruit, Transvaal, South Africa, by Lennox Anderson, in 1936. The heaviest male lion in captivity has 'Simba', a male lion at Colchester Zoo in England. It weighed 826 pounds (375 kg) when he died in 1973.
