Kalki compares the newborn tiger king's claim with the bulletins issued by the war office to highlight the absurdity and lack of credibility in both situations. Just as the bulletins from the war office may contain propaganda or misinformation to manipulate public perception, the tiger king's claim to the throne may be based on false or exaggerated assertions to assert dominance. By drawing this parallel, Kalki underscores the theme of deception and manipulation in both political and natural settings.

In Richard Connell's short story "The Most Dangerous Game," Rainsford sets a trap known as a Burmese tiger pit to catch General Zaroff's assistant, Ivan. The story does not explicitly state whether Ivan is killed by the trap, but it is implied that he meets his demise as Rainsford later hears the scream of pain and terror that suggests Ivan fell into the pit. Therefore, it can be inferred that Ivan is indeed killed by Rainsford's Burmese tiger pit.

A Burmese Tiger Pit is a pitfall trap that was created in the south pacific as a guerrilla warfair tactic. What it is is a pit, anywhere from four to ten feet deep, that is filled with about two dozen sharpened bamboo shafts all directed upwards. What happens is that once you finish the pit, you have to cover it with leaves and other things to hide it. While once useful for catching tigers, hence it's name, it was later realized that it could be used against enemies while fighting in the jungle. They take a foul step on top of the pit and fall in, incapacitating and/or killing them effectively.
