Hi Bulla,
I continue to be blown away by the insights you are sharing on this thread and only wish I knew a little more so I could contribute in a somewhat more meaningful way. I would still be interested if you had the time if you could answer some of the questions I asked in this
post, particularly about the Wandjina Spirits of the Kimberly Pilbara regions as they have have always fascinated me and I do quite a bit of work in the Pilbara.
I am also interested in knowing if you have ever heard of and place in credence the works ofViktor Schauberger. While your specific goals and areas of interest seem quite similar and have some overlap, the methods and conclusions you use do seem quite different. But you definitely seem to have quite similar mindsets.....
"This civilization is the work of man, who high-handedly and ignorant of the true workings of Nature, has created a world without meaning or foundation, which now threatens to destroy him, for through his behavior and his activities, he, who should be her master, has disturbed Nature's inherent unity."
Plus no-one wants to know this you idiot get a life and stop cutting yourself and climbing in trees
A context clue for herpetologist could be "Dr. Smith specializes in studying reptiles and amphibians, she is a renowned expert in the field."
In the book "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss, Mr. Gump has seven humps on his Wump.
Dr Livingstone I presume
Dr. Thomas Phillip Lecky.
Captain Scott's mate, Dr Wilson made the most contributions to biology, since that was Dr Wilson's job. (Captain Scott's job was to lead the expedition, and to captain the ship.) Dr Wilson wanted to prove that penguins were descendants of dinosaurs, based on the penguin feather patterns. As well, Dr Wilson provided the best artistic renderings of the animals that visited the local beaches during breeding season: penguins and seals.
address dr and dr smith
Dr. and Mrs. Smith
Dear Dr. & Mrs. Smith
Dr. and Mr. Smith.
The most economical phrasing is doctors Smith or Jones. It is also perfectly acceptable to say Dr. Smith or Dr. Jones.
Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D.
Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D.
dr Mary smith would be the correct way
Dr. and Mrs. John Smith, or Dr. John Smith and Mrs. Ann Smith. John and Ann Smith is also appropriate, and might be the best choice in this situation.
Yes, Dr. Smith is a proper noun. It is the name of a specific doctor.
An individual Joe Smith with a PhD would be addressed as Dr Smith or Joe Smith, PhD but not Dr Joe Smith, PhD.
It is easier to address 2 married doctors if the woman has kept her maiden name - e.g.; Dr. John Smith Dr. Mary Jones However, if this is not the case, the following is equally appropriate: Drs. John & Mary Smith It may be appropriate to say "Dr. & Dr. John & Mary Smith," but, in my opinion, it's not as tidy.
