Because people need to wear clothes, and anything that is made of wool or with wool, no matter if it's from sheep or alpaca, can be made into something that all humans can wear. Besides, if sheep aren't shorn in the spring leading to summer, they will get sick from heat exhaustion and heat stress from the thick layer of wool on themselves.
