People kill battery hens for mainly one reason - their egg production has slowed (usually after one year) and they are considered as 'spent hens'. They are killed to get rid of them, so they can buy newer ones to go through the same inhumane practices.

Battery chickens are not a specific breed; instead, they refer to chickens raised in intensive farming systems for egg or meat production. These chickens may be hybrid or purebred, depending on the breeding program used by the farm.
there are reports of tarantulas killing and dragging away chickens. whether or not they eat them I don't know!
Unless you mean at least 20 chickens and/or *within* 7 days, it is impossible, as an odd number of odd numbers will always have an odd number as their sum.
Yes, chickens wander as far as they are allowed to go. Luckily, most chickens return to the same spot each night to roost.
There are several, more humane ways, including shooting, but I suggest instead of killing them, simply try to sell them. The pet chicken business is becoming incredibly popular in the last few years, and I never have much trouble finding a home for any chickens I want to sell. Try your local classifieds, or your local farmer's market, or free places such as Craigslist, Backyard Chickens Forum, or bulletin boards in your local stores or post offices. Even if YOU don't want the chicken, there's bound to be someone who does. Many people on Backyard Chickens Forum actually pay shipping for the chicken, so distance isn't an issue. So instead of killing the chicken, you can actually make money off of him or her! Good luck!

battery farm are small cages. especialy, battery cages for chickens are to small
They are called battery chickens because they have been reared and kept in cages - normally a battery farm will consist of row after row of small cages which hardly give the hens room to move but do leave them enough room to eat and lay eggs. Why is it called a battery? Well, a 'battery of something' can be used as a way to describe a large number of that something all in one place.. . as in artillery battery, an organized group of artillery pieces, or in chess, where a battery is a tactic consisting of placing two or more pieces on the same rank, file, or diagonal. In the case of battery hens, they've been kept in one of a battery of cages.
placeswere chickens are kept is called the "chicken coop"
Battery chickens, the chickens used in egg production, are kept in battery cages. These are tiny cages with very little room for the chicken. They are kept in conditions that would shock most people who eat their eggs. Bright, artificial lights are used to simulate daylight, to make them lay more than they would in natural conditions. They can barely move in their cages, are kept separate from other chickens, and do not have freedom or any kind of natural conditions to live in. Free-range eggs are eggs from free-range chickens, chickens kept in natural conditions- normal lighting, better food, and room to move around. While battery chickens produce more eggs per chicken with less room, the chickens themselves need better care than that, or so many people think.
