They develop a cytoplasmic hair-like elongation which increases its surface area for more absorption. It also has a large number of mitochondria which provides energy needed for the active uptake of minerals.

When you look closely at a root cell its shape is thin and has small haory sturctures known as the root hairs. Now these roots are fixed very firmly to the ground. so there are plenty of water and minerals down there.these thin roots absorb it easily and it gets transported to all the partsof the plant.

What is the job of the root hair cell?

Root hair cell are dermal cells found on the roots of many vascular plants.Their job is to provide a greater surface area for water absorption. As transpiration pulls water up to the leaves, root hair cells have to absorb large amounts of water. The process by which root dermal cells take in water is osmosis. In order to diffuse large amounts of water, a cell obviously needs a large surface area. The root hair cells provide this needed extra surface area to absorb large amounts of water.

In the diagram of a root hair cell which number shows an adaptation for absorbing water?

How is a root hair cell good at its job?

Root hair cells are used in osmosis to transmit water and nutrients from the soil. These root hair cells reduce the loss of water and adapt to the large surface area and speeds up osmosis process.

How does the root hair cell structure relate to the function?

A root hair cells main function is to basically absorb water to hydrate the structure. So basically a root hair cells structure helps do this because it's very long and thin, which starts absorbing from deep down. Hope this helped! ♥ -Afrida

What is the difference between Root hair cells and palisade cells?

What are Root Hair Cells used for on a plant?

they provide a good surface area to absorb water and minerals from the soil

How many cells are there in a root hair?

there are about thousands of root hairs

What does the hair cells do?

Function of root hair cell?

To absorb water and nutrients from the soil.

What does sea salt spray do to your hair?

Sea salt spray give you a natural beachy wave to your hair. the salt from the spray is absorbing the moisture from your hair and that give a pull in the hair to get the waves in your hair. this is a physical change to the hair and it can be broken by adding water to it and to regain moisture back into the hair.

In which part organ would you find root hair cells?

Root hair cells are on the roots of the plants. They are found on the rhizomes of vascular plants. They collect water and nutrients in solution and transport it up to the other parts of the plant.

What is the adaptation of the hair root cell?

To speed up osmosis root hair cells have a large surface area. Root hair cells absorb water and minerals from surrounding soil.
