It's a safety measure that cows are dehorned. Sure the horns look good, but they don't feel as good as when they are goring into your body when that cow is suddenly angry with you for no apparent reason. They will also harm other cows, goring into them or causing a lot of unnecessary bruising to the meat which will cut quality. Cattle with horns are more dangerous than cattle with no horns. Shaving the points down may reduce the danger factor a little, but horns should still be respected and regarded as dangerous regardless if they're "shaved down" or tipped.
