Two ears allow you to triagulate in on the source of the sound. One ear would only inform you that there is a sound, you wouldn't know the direction of its source. For trianulation it is better if the ears are as far apart as possible.
The same reason you and I have two eyes. With two eyes we can determine depth by way of depth perception. This is not able to do with just one. With two ears, we and animals can determine the location of something immediately without having to adjust our heads to make a determination of direction. This is primarily a self defense method. For hunters, two ears are used to find prey sometimes through snow, grass, soil or for owls, in complete darkness.
The humans have ears because, I know this sounds strange, they developed from fish gills before humans, and most mamals- evolved yet. The cells and amoeba where made to take in oxygen and vibrations, and well, somehow the muscles and cells developed to take in sound waves. Pretty cool huh?
God gave 2 ears this way we can listen to people more and one mouth this way we talk less.
AnswerGenetics. If we'd have a different number of ears same question would be asked..... AnswerSound is our locator. The two ears triangulate the sound and give the human their sense of "space." When the hearing is diminished, the person cannot move as quickly through the busy world we have. The inner ear also controls motion and equilibrium, another facet of "space."Besides, it's nature's natural stereo. Having two ears enables you to focus on where the sound originates and allows you to identify where the sound comes from. Studies on hearing have given us the Doppler effect and Dolby surround sound. All from two ears.
Two ears give the hearer the ability to sense the direction of the source of the sound. The difference in time of arrival of the sound indicates the direction. If the sound arrives at the same time, the source is at the same distance from each ear, so the sound is directly in front of you (or behind you). Try snapping your fingers in front of you to the left, right in front of your face, and to the right- notice how you can tell where the sound originates!
we have two ears because number 1: it helps us keep our balance (surprisingly!) and it helps us tell where the sound is coming from!
its normal to have 2 ears b/c it isn't normal to have more or less
There are not any animals that have more than two ears. The ears of animals help them to hear things, especially predators.
Depending on the breed of dog, the ears will be held in different positions. Boston terrier, have narrow pointy ears set far apart on their head. Malamutes have strait rounded ears. Labradors have triangluar drooping ears. Greyhounds have the rosebud/folded ears (usually). Jack Russels have button ears. It really all depends on the individual.
All animals have ears but not all of them have outer ears though a lot of animals do have outer ears. animal that do not have visible ear are whale, snake, crocodile, dolphin and lizard
Animals that have pointed ears usually can hear better. Animals that have floppy ears can't hear as well.
animals can have holes for ears or can use smell if they don't have ears
Skunks have two ears, just like all the other animals.

Not all animals that hear have external ears like many mammals do, but many can sense the vibrations that we perceive as sound through other sensory organs, which you might call "ears".
Its Quiet Tricky. all animals eat with their ears because they all have ears (but they eat with their mouths of course, its just that they have ears when they eat)
Human, because techinally we are animals, we are the only animals that can properly communicate, and we have ears
