Depends on the bird. Some are called ground feeders so they naturally feed below. It may not be great though since bird poop or feces is often there is the cage is dirty. This means you may need to change the paper often. If the bird is down there all the time and not eating it could be a variety of reasons - one, it could feel safe down there or 2. it may be feeling ill and not able to perch and therefore may need to see a vet. It all depends if it is acting healthy or not.

Not a good idea Chickens are aggressive with other birds, they are also opportunistic omnivores which means they will kill and eat the smaller birds if they get the chance. Given the size of the chicken verses the size of the canary i would be wary about housing them in the same living area.
Birds stay cool by a process called evaporative cooling. They pant or flutter their throat or gular area to increase air circulation and help cool down. Some birds also regulate their body temperature by adjusting their posture or finding shade.
Nests are simply used as nurseries. Birds do not stay in a nest once the babies are old enough to live on their own. Birds live in trees and bushes. Females only stay in a nest if there are eggs or little ones.
Unlikely at most. Just because there is many thousands of volts passing through the lines they land on, there is no grounding done and no electrical charge involved. Many birds land on the lines to see where they will feed next or gather with birds of the same species.
