dogs will drag they're bottom on the grass, floor, carpet etc.. when they have full anal glans. they get tight and uncofertabe. therefore the dogs rum they're butts on the ground to release some of that anal juice to relive pain. if your dog is doing this take it to a groomer and have them release there anal glands.. you can also do it at home, but its not a pretty sight! good luck!!

Is bum a good name for a dog?

I would say so. I think that it is a perfect name for a pug especially! You would be like, "Hello Bum" "How are you Bum" "Had a good day Bum" "Who's a good bum, who's a good Bum" It is a bit funny as well. My advice, you would be calling your dog over and people would hear you saying Bum a lot of times. They would think you have something wrong with you or you are seriously weird! So my opinion is not to name your dog that!! LOL :]

Why do dogs drag their bottoms?

Answer: Because toilet paper is too harsh. Answer: Because it itches! What would you do if you had no hands (to rub, scratch or wipe?) Sometimes it's just an irritated bottom, sometimes it's a sign of internal parasites (or even doggie hemorrhoids.) If your dog does this once in a while, they are likely just fine, but if it is constant (and especially on really rough surfaces, asphalt, concrete) then you may do best to take them to the vet before things can get really bad.

Do dogs have scent glands in their paws?

Yes, dogs have scent glands in their paw pads. These glands release a unique scent that helps dogs mark territory and communicate with other dogs. The scent is often left behind when dogs scratch the ground, which is a common behavior for them.
