Dogs love to push people with their noses. Most of the time it just means they want affection or attention. If you are reading the newspaper, for example, your dog may nudge your hand to try to get your attention away from the paper and back to him. Or perhaps the chair that you're in is his favorite place and he wants you to move out of the way so he can take possession.

When dogs put their faces in other dogs' eliminations, they are smelling it. By smelling it they can find out the other dog's gender, what they last ate, if they at in season, and how old they are.
Dogs can form social bonds and playmates with other dogs, but they do not have the concept of romantic relationships or girlfriends like humans do. Dogs engage in social interactions with other dogs for companionship, play, and communication.

Dogs may nudge their food bowl to show excitement or to try to bury or hide their food for later. This behavior is instinctual and can be a way for them to mark their territory or save food for later.
Female dogs bark at their puppies in order to gain their attention. It could be that the mother wants/needs to scold, cuddle, nudge or tell her puppies something.
