Why do dogs sniff mattress?

if your dog is licking the bedding/floor and eating grass they are usually trying to make themselves vomit. this is perfectly natural however and a trip to the vet isn't needed unless this behavior last over a week. the dog probably just ate something that doesn't agree with them, swallowed a part of a bone/plastic from a toy, or has a bug/worm in which case would last over a week and you should bring him/her to the vet.
