I have read many sources that say dogs cannot express facial expressions like smiling or pouting. However, we have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who most cerainly pouts and also shows what we clearly know to be as a "disgruntled face". When she is unhappy, she starts shows the black bottom of her lip. When she is disgruntled, one side of her upper lip is raised (not a snarl) and she makes it clear to us that she is none too pleased. In six years, this has NEVER happened at a time when she is happy or pleased with something going on. We are convinced the answer to that question is YES! Hope it helps!
