If a female mounts a male or a female mounts a female or a male mounts a male, it's because the top rabbit is asserting his or her dominance. She is saying, "I'm on top, so I'm better than you." This can be frusturating if you are trying to get them to breed. My friend is having this same problem with her pair of Tans right now. A breeder recommended feeding them something (I think it was wheat germ or something like that) mixed with honey.

∙ 15y agoHumping, in rabbit language, is a way to assert authority over another rabbit. It shows who is the dominant bunny in the club, in short. That the boy-bunny humps is brother does not mean he is attracted to him, nor that he thinks he's a female : it is simply a way to say " I'm the king, in here. Show me respect" and the brother, by accepting it, says back "yes, O king of kings!".

Unless it is turning into fighting there is nothing to worry about!

∙ 12y agoRabbits of both sexes sometimes hump other rabbits for dominance purposes (showing the other rabbit who's boss). When a female humps a male, that's the reason why -- it's not about sex.
