Fishes die when they are taken out of water because just like how we suffocate in water when we drown fishes also suffocate in the air. The reason for this is that the gills i.e. their lungs, are stacked on top of each other which is known as the gill stacks. Without water the gill stacks all stick together preventing oxygen from entering. In addition the gills don't have a large enough surface area to get the amount of oxygen it needs to survive.
Guppies are fresh water fish who will die in salt water.
If it's a fish that naturally lives in cold water, it should be fine. If it's used to warmer water, it can die.
Water must flow with some regularity across the gills of fish for gas exchange to take place. This is essential if the fish is to stay alive. Oxygen is taken from the water by the gills, and carbon dioxide is put into the water. The gills of fish serve essentially the same function as the lungs of people.
Fish have specialized organs called gills that are adapted for extracting oxygen from water. These gills are not efficient at extracting oxygen from air, which is why fish cannot breathe outside of water. Additionally, their skin is not designed to prevent dehydration on land.
Gills allow the fish to extract oxygen from the water. Without oxygen, the fish would die. So the answer is TRUE.
fish die when taken out of the water because they have gills and fish absorb oxygen from the water and when the fish are taken out they die because of them .
they cannot breathe out of water.
it depends how long it stays out
Fish, like us, need oxygen to live. However they have gills to taken oxygen from water, whereas we have lungs to take oxygen from the air. Therefore, when fish get taken out of the water, as they don't have lungs they have no way to take in oxygen, so they die.
a clown fish will die because it is a ocean fish and with out salt water , it will die in fresh water.
Fish do not breath air, they do not have lungs like humans or most other land animals. They use gills to take oxygen from water. If you take a fish out of the water it will suffocate and die from oxygen starvation.
Most salt water fish will die if placed in fresh water.
Will die
Yes it/they can. Care should be taken to let the temperature of the water the fish is/are in slowly equalise with the water in the pond before releasing the fish otherwise it/they may die from temperature shock. I used to place a bucket containing the fish in its/their original water beside the pond and slowly replace a cupfull of water at a time over about 30 mins or so before releasing the fish into its new home.
Fish have gills and they absorb the water of the sea, ocean or anyplace with water. It's just like air. Without air we would die. Without water fish would die.
water temperature can “shock” the fish and even cause them to die! The water PH and hardness are also critical; the sudden drastic change in either of them can cause fish to die. Gold fish Who's Is Die quickly
Fish are not immortal, so they can in fact die anywhere.
