∙ 13y agoThey have big heads because they have a bigger brain than ours. Although, it is NOT to be misunderstood that they have a greater intellectual capacity than humans, they are smart though. They also have a long jaw, to get into deep grass, they are less likely to poke their eyes. They also have a long jaw to keep water away from eyes and out of ears. More teeth is another reason, you have to remember the Equus was not always this large, nor was it's head. It used to be more like a dog. Also it used to be a browser rather than a grazer. And 4 toed rather than having a single toe covered in a hard "plaster" called horn, creating the hoof.
