Well all cats are different..and it depends on if they are adults or kittens...but try these ways: Kittens: Kittens like to be supported under them, so with one hand hold under their arms or around their chest, and then pick them up off the floor and into your arms and then support them around their feet and tail. Adult/teenage cats: Reach under their arms or around their chest and lift them up, then there are two ways to do it: 1- hold them like a baby by supporting their head and with the other arm their backs. (note: some cats HATE this others love it). 2- have their head over your shoulder. have the cat face you on the floor and pick up from under their arms, then put their arms on the front of your shoulder so that their heads are facing behind you, and then support their tails.
Many beagles hold their tails up naturally when they are happy or excited. If your dog doesn't, you can train him to do so. Put him on a leash and get him moving quickly, while telling him a simple command such as 'Tail up!' in a happy voice. If his tail comes up, immediately reward him. You can also work with him standing still, using the same command and running a finger down the top of his tail, which will often cause him to lift his tail. Offer an immediate reward. Be patient can repeat the process as much as you need to for him to get the idea.
