Probably because so many other animals prey on lizards and their eggs. Producing large clutches ensures a higher survival rate.
One example of a reptile that lays small round bright yellow eggs is the yellow-spotted monitor lizard. These lizards are found in Australia and are known for their distinctive eggs that are bright yellow in color and around the size of a marble.
Actually, I was just looking around to see how many babies Alligator lizards usually have and I ran across this page. I have several Alligator lizards and one of them has just given birth to 3 LIVE lizards... so far. They came out 1 at a time, each in their own little slimy sack and after a few minutes wiggled their way out and are now running around the cage. So... not all lizards lay eggs, contrary to popular belief. These lizards are native to western Wa, I don't know about any of the other breeds of Aligator lizards from other areas.
Marlin and Coral had many eggs because, in the wild, fish produce a large number of eggs to increase the chances of at least some surviving to adulthood. This is a survival strategy to offset the high mortality rates that eggs and young fish face from predators and environmental factors.
Chickens have a natural instinct to lay eggs regularly as part of their reproductive cycle. Broodiness is triggered by hormonal changes that encourage incubation of eggs, so chickens typically lay more eggs when they are not broody. This allows them to consistently produce eggs for reproduction.
Yes, lizards can produce gas as part of their digestive process, but they do not have the same ability to control or release it like humans do. So while lizards may pass gas, it is not commonly observed or documented like in other animals.
They hatch from eggs so as many eggs that they produce in the nest.
Because so many of their young are eaten by other critters. The idea is that they create a lot of eggs in hopes that at least a few will survive.
They do many things. Some include: To store ovum (eggs) and release them during the menstrual cycle. they make eggs which go on further to be fertilised to make a baby. to produce eggs to produce hormones or chemicals that regulate menstruation, etc. The ovaries produce the eggs that are fertilized by the sperm and so the baby is formed
Do you mean "Why do fish lay so many eggs at one time? The reason fish lay so many eggs at one time is survival. The more eggs that a female lays the better chance more eggs will have a chance to survive.
Most tapeworms have both male and female reproductive organs to reproduce and fertilize there own eggs.
Yes, there are quite a few.
Because eggs are fertilised and become embryos.

Mine was digging for a week and then it layed eggs, so it might be pregnant!
no because females can not produce sperm to fertilize the eggs and males do not have eggs so no

Of the many eggs fish lay, very few reach adulthood. The eggs are preyed on by many aquatic creatures, and the hatched fry are still in danger of being eaten. Only by laying so many eggs can the species have a chance of surviving.
