Do Wild Rabbits bite?

Yes they do, normally they bite because of a reason. If they're new, they might bite you everytime you cuddle them or feed them because they dont know you too well. I also have two rabbits of my own who bite me quite alot.

Do giant lop rabbits bite?

Giant lop rabbits are known to have a gentle and friendly nature, making them less likely to bite compared to other rabbit breeds. However, like all animals, they may bite if they feel threatened or scared. It's important to provide proper handling and socialization to minimize the risk of biting.

Can two female rabbits be in one cage if one has babies?

When the babies are born you shouldn't even touch the baby rabbits because if the mom notices the scent (which is most likely will) it will attack her babies. When they are born keep the with their mother, when they are 6-8 weeks the you can wean the babies and separate them from their mother, you should still keep them a bit warm, otherwise, when they are older get the mother and her babies used to each other again, watch them after putting them together, if they get along they should be fine if they don't get along or bite each other more than 3 times or start to fight, separate them ASAP! By the time rabbits are 6 to 8 weeks old they should be removed from the Mom's cage (weaned). Every rabbit should have it's own cage by 3 months of age. Just because a rabbit belongs to a certain Mom does not mean that they will get along if put back in with their Mom. Rabbits ARE very territorial and need their own space. A young buck WILL try (and probably succeed) to breed it's Mom. If you had ever seen a rabbit kill another you would never risk it by putting 2 rabbits in the same cage after they both are 3 months old.------ FYI a mother rabbit will not necessarily attack and kill her babies because you look at them, there is a right way to check them so no harm is done. And you should check on them right after they are born to make sure everyone is alive.

When does a Hamster bite?

A hamster usually won't eat her babies unless if it is ill and/or dying. The mother may also eat her baby if anyone has touched it. If you touch a baby the mother will smell an un-natural scent and the first thing she'll think is 'danger'. A hamster.. in this case.. will either abandon the baby or eat it to keep her other babies safe. If you have a pregnant hamster; DO NOT pick up the babies when they are born (even though its hard to resist). It'd probably be best if you left the mother and her babies alone for a while. When you clean the cage, work around the mom. You don't want to disturb or distress her in any way.

Why do rabbits eat their babies?

The mother or the doe will feed her babies milk. The mother may not do this immediately and it might take a while for her to feed the litter. So don't be scared. The mother does this for 15 minutes on and off all day. The mother feeds her babies milk for 3-4 weeks. Sometimes the baby may not wean(wean-not depending on the mother for food) until 8 weeks.Rabbits and their Babies This happened with my rabbit and its young. Rabbits do eat their young but they dont mean to if the baby is dead the mother will not know this and will try to revive the baby by nibbling on it when the baby does not respond the mother will start biting. They dont eat them as such but they do bite them to try to revive them so n a contex they can sometimes end up eating their young.

Will a mother rabbit reject a baby rabbit if touched by a human?

Don't touch the babies without gloves on, and if you don't have gloves, wash your hands and hold the kit in a cup position. The mother will probably continue to care for her kit if she knows you and is comfortable with you around.

When two baby rabbit is the mother rabbit dangerous?

it is not dangerus but you need to make the mother rabbit feel extra comfortableand try to keep the baby rabbit safe and not let them fightbelley9743- There is no danger to the baby rabbits at any stage of their life. Although if YOU get too close to the mother she might become aggressive and try and scratch you with her two front paws. Do lop eared bunnies eat their babies ears?

The mother rabbit may accidentally take a chunk out of a baby's ear during kindling. If you have older babies with chunks out of their ears I would first check the doe for mastitis (swollen mammary glands, she may bite babies if they try to nurse and she has mastitis) If she is OK I would be inclined to think that you have too many babies in too small of a cage and they have started fighting, biting chunks out of each others ears. Time to put in a larger cage, wean from mother rabbit and/or separate into bucks and does and give them their own cages. Lop Eared Rabbits are not more likely to do this than other breeds of rabbits.
