Dogs have been watching and keeping an eye on humans for eons of time, both visually, and emotionally.
Treat a dog like a true friend and they will be at your side for life, they will die for you, will help you weather all the bad and share the the good times with you.

∙ 15y agoMost people like them because dogs are energetic, and basically a mans best friend if it's trained well.
Others just find they're so cute and everyone has one, so they must as well.
But, dogs can be a good friend, hunter for people who hunt, bed warmer if their owners let them on their beds, excellent for joggers, and just plain lovable.

The Dog has been able to adapt to a large number of roles; From the domestic (hunting, herding, protecting), to the working dogs (Police dogs, Guide dogs, therapy dogs). The Dog was perhaps one of the greatest assets primitive man had for spreading our species (Notably, many scientists do not believe crossing the Bering strait 12,000 years ago would have been possible without the use of sled dogs).
The dog has many desirable traits in a pet/companion.
Different sizes, shapes, colors, and builds amongst the literally hundred of breeds
Far better senses than a human allowing for their domestic roles to be fulfilled
They are very trainable as pets go, and can learn acceptable behavior
Found everywhere people are, they have been adapted for nearly any environment.
Lastly dogs make people feel safe and loved almost as if the dog were their child.
