I have also been having the same problem for the past three days. It's not the first time that it has happened and I think only those of us who have experience this can really understand what it feels like. It's not Asthma. It's really a great need to take a deep breath, but can't do it without yawning. And the yawning can take some time to accomplish and you kind start to panic a bit when the yawning it's not coming.

When I am having problem yawning, I have to stand up and maybe even stick my head out the window to get fresh air and finally I am able to yawn.

I don't know why this happens but I am here to tell you what I did last night that helped. I used a nasal spray. The kind you use to relieve a stuffy nose. And it helped. Today I have been having the same feeling of wanting to take a deep breath. The only difference is that I was able to do it without having to yawn. What a great relief.

I don't normally like to use nasal sprays. I only spray last night and I have been good for the past 20 hours.

I wonder if this problem is caused by problem in our nasal passage????

Another possibility to consider is anxiety. I suffer from anxiety attacks - often lasting weeks - that make my chest feel tight and make it difficult to yawn. Is there something you are stressed about? Or are you overdoing caffeine? Sometimes, it's caused by a chemical imbalance (as in my case). You might want to see your doctor just in case.
