Why not? Biological diversity is important to life on Earth in general. Also, this bird was driven to extinction soley because of man's greed and activities. Every species is interesting and important in its own right. Many people love this bird and feel that people in the past deprived them of enjoying its presence. Just because one person doesn't care about this species doesn't mean that others feel the same way. Many people enjoy seeing a wide variety of species and want to preserve them for future generations.
