Once you start feeding birds you should continue on because they begin to rely on you, especially during the winter months when food may be a little harder to find. A dish of water is good (preferably a fountain or something up higher where they are safe from cats or other predators.)

∙ 14y agoBirds are a lot more territorial than we give them credit for: Hummingbirds will ignore new feeders for two-three weeks until they get used to them. Other birds may not react to a new feeder because they already have a ready food supply.
