Sorry to hear about your piggy:( It depends on the symptoms. Mine sneezed, and a few days later I noticed he hadn't finished nearly as much water that day as he usually did. He ended up having pneumonia and despite the use of antibiotics and my force feeding him water every hour, he died. He was only two years old. My vet explained it to me like this: Guinea pigs are happy creatures. They do not want to worry you, so they pretend they are not sick until it's too late. By the time they can't fake it anymore, it's too late to do anything to help them. If you have any other piggies, watch their food and water intake. If either suddenly decline, don't wait---go to the vet ASAP! Every minute counts. From what I understand, birds are the same way.
Guinea pigs live 3-8 years, but an average life span for healthy guinea pigs is about 5-6 years. A lucky guinea pig can sometimes live up to 10 years! So, a 5 year old guinea pig is getting up there in years, but if properly cared for, can live for a long awhile yet.
I think so because there are 25 guines pig years in one human year,so 4 human years is 100 guinea pig years 4 is not that old it is common for a guinea pig to live for 7-8 years so its at its mid life crisis!!
Guinea pigs do not have molting or shedding seasons like some animals, so they do not have a specific number of molts per year. Each guinea pig may shed its fur gradually throughout the year as part of its natural growth cycle. Regular grooming can help remove loose hair and prevent mats.
Male guinea-pigs can start mating when they are as young as 3 weeks old, although it is recommended that you make sure they been bred by six months old to make them a breeder.Female guinea pigs can start having babies when they are three months old, however, it is highlyrecommended that you don't mate them when they are over a year old, due to pelvis bone fusion. A female guinea pig any older than a year old will have a dead litter before she will be able to produce a live litter.
If your guinea pig is quite old [ 2+yrs] it will just be of old age as my guinea pig squeak is 3 and has had it for 1 year and is fine but if your guinea pig is young id take it to the vets as it may have an eye infection Jacinta Farrell age 11
one year...
yes. I had a 2 year old guinea pig and a 6 month old and the were great together.
Both of my Guinea Pigs died last year. It's a very sad experience, and sadly the only thing you can do is watch, I guess. My first one to die was only 3, and I loved him so much. He died of seizures, and there was nothing we could do. Then my other guinea pig died the day before Christmas--she was 8, and she died of old age. Just try to be strong, I know how hard it is to loose those little cuties. <3
1 year old
Hamster, guinea pig, frog, lizard, .....
Maybe because of illness. was it winter? Maybe because of illness. was it winter?
it is hard to age a guinea pig but if its over 1kg then its over 1 year old
The best age to breed your guinea-pigs is 5 months to a year old.
at least half an year
Since the years of his birth and death are only approximate, (it has been estimated that he was born in year 970 and died in 1020), he was around 50 years old when he died.
