Why has your hamster got one eye closed?

It might have an eye infection but if its the first time probally not. If this happens several times go to the vets. Just bathe the eye by using kitchen roll and luke warm water and softly dab at the eye. Then soon after it should return to normal!

I am no professional on hamsters. But not long after my hamsters eyes popped out, he became pitiful and sorry to say, shortly died. My Hammy got to where he could not walk, eat, drink. He was old, they dont live long like cats or dogs. I gave him diluted alcolic drinks for pain. But, perhaps your hamster has something else going on than mine did. Good luck! i phoned pet world in Bolton and they said it's because i held him too tightly, so don't worry your hamster may not die...

well there might be a really brigjt light in their eyes or you know when you wake up in the morning and yo uhave that crusty stuff on your eyes well hamsters get that too but it goes over there etes and they cant see and when that happens take a cloth or toilet paper and run in in warm watter and gently take the clothe or toilet paper and rub the eye with gentle back and forth motion and remember GENTLY or youll make you hamster blind or hurt it really bad... so take the cloth and try to wipe away the crust off the hamsters eyes... by the way DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT try to open the eyes by pulling open the eye lid you will rip the eye lids and give your hamster external and internal bleeding.

This is a very common in hamsters and there can be lots of reasons for this. Often when a hamster has a cold this happens. An eye infecion is also possible. You need to take the hamster to the vets to give him some antibiotics some eyedrops

The eye color is determined by genes of the parents. Somewhere in its family tree, there was an albino.

If your hamster is squinting I suggest you take it to the vet- it may have an eye problem, as healthy hamsters should have big bright black eyes.

This is normal. sometimes gunk in the hamsters eye keeps it from opening. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO REMOVE THE GUNK. the hamster can remove it by itself. This happened to my hamster too.
