The African elephant, remarkably, is not considered endangered, rather, the species is listed as "vulnerable" by the IUCN. The Asian elephant is endangered.
African Elephants are vulnerable because of various reasons:
African elephants could become extinct if laws in foreign countries, particularly China, are not passed to outlaw the trade of ivory.
More elephants are killed by poachers every day than are born. Soon, there will be no more elephants. Ivory is used for good luck charms, carvings, and a host of other things--none of which are beneficial to mankind in any way. There is a lot of money in the ivory trade; and elephant tusks are the only source of ivory.
China freely trades in ivory and will not allow the use or sale of ivory. There are other Asian countries who do the same. Consquently, elephant populations are dwindling and will soon be non-existent.
Two reasons primarily (both related to humans):
People killed them for sport, for meat, for their tusks and because the elephants lost their land to people who took over the lands that the elephants used to live on. Also due to pollution and dirty surroundings. Keep in mind that the African Elephants aren't the only animals endangered, millions of wild and wonderful beasts disappear every day.
The African elephant is considered vulnerable, not endangered as of today. Occuring in two subspecies, the bush elephant, the larger of the two, and the forest elephant of the Congo region. The two split into separate populations around two million years ago. The main reason for the decline of the species was hunting for the ivory trade.
The African bush elephant is not endangered, rather listed as"vulnerable". The smaller African forest elephant is considered endangered however.
The forest elephant has seen a decline in its numbers due to deforestation and native hunting, but has seen a recent increase in numbers, and banning of the ivory trade.
Because of two main reasons:
Over all the species is classified as vulnerable, in some places, such as southern Africa, the elephant populatino has recovered. However, the forest elephant is disappearing rapidly, and there are countries where the elephant is severely endangered, as well as some countries which no longer have elephants (i.e. they are locally extinct).
Poaching and destruction of natural habitat.
The African Elephant is endangered because humans are hunting them for their ivory tusks.
Elephants have become endangered because they are being killed by terrible poachers for they're beautiful ivory tusks.
Elephants are killed for the ivory in their tusks.
The 'Africana' is the African elephant. Its scientific name is Loxodonta Africana and is in the phylum Chordata. The African elephant is an endangered mammal.
The African forest elephant.
There are 3 elephant species in the genus loxodonta(African Elephant): African Elephant, African Bush Elephant, and African Forest ElephantThere is only 1 elephant species in the genus Elephas maximus (Asian Elephant), but it can be divided into 4 sub-species.
Three species of elephant are living today: the African Bush Elephant, the African Forest Elephant and the Asian Elephant (also known as the Indian Elephant)
African and AsianThe two types of elephants are African and Asian. Male African elephants are the largest surviving terrestrial animals and can reach a height of 13 feet. African elephants are listed as 'vulnerable' and the Asian elephant is classified as 'endangered' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.Sadly there are only 2 species of Elephants in the world because of humans have been killing them. Th two species of Elephants left in the world are the Asian Elephant and the Afirican Elephant. The rarest Elephant in the world is a combination of the two.Yes, There are 2 species of elephant the Asian and the Africanand both are endangered. Save the elephants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visit my website at celesteisawesome.webs.com Yes it is about wildlife conservationthe two species of elephants are Indian elephantsandAfrican elephants

The Asian elephant is endangered. The African elephant is vulnerable.
Of the two species of elephant, the Asian Elephant is endangered and the African Elephant is currently considered vulnerable. There is some debate about the conservation status of the African Elephant. No octopus is currently on the Endangered or Threatened list, however little is known about the population sizes for most octopus species.
Poaching was the cause of destruction of elephant species. The African bush elephant, the larger of the two African elephants, is not endangered, but considered "Vulnerable". The smaller African forest elephant, however, is endangered.

African Elephants are endangered because hunters are killing them for their ivory and other body parts. It is estimated that by 2020 African elephants will be extinct.
Currently, the African elephant is listed as near threatened, not endangered, by the IUCN.
