Why is the water in your fishtank cloudy?

Sounds like whatever filtration setup you have is not enough to keep the water clean. Do a 50% water change and cut back your feedings to once per day until you pick up a better system, like a canister filter or one that hangs over the lip of the tank and has filter pads with carbon in them. Also, don't rely on quick fixes in a bottle that claim to clear your water up. You'd only be treating the symptom. Get a better filtration system.

Yes, it is the sunlight...the sunlight shines into the fish tank and makes the water go cloudy I can suggest cleaning the tank out and put fresh water in.. and moving the tank into a different place to stop it going cloudy Hope this helped!!x

There are various reasons and possibilities for why your water is cloudy. The biggest one is poor water quality. Check the ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and pH levels. The first three should be low, while the pH should be in the range for the certain type of fish you keep. Another reason why your tank might be cloudy is algae growth. If placed in direct sunlight or lighted with excessive amounts of brightness, your tank may start to grow algae, which will cause a greenish tinge to the water and plenty of cloudiness. A third reason is overfeeding. You should not feed your fish more than two times a day unless they are growing and/or juvenile fish. When you overfeed your fish, the excess food drops to the floor and gets burrowed underneath or in between the gravel. It could also be because the glass of your aquarium simply needs a good cleaning. With a dirty surface, the aquarium itself may appear dirty and cloudy, even though the inner contents of the aquarium really aren't. Please research some more for other possible suggestions. I think the way to treat it is to perform a partial water change and properly dechlorinate the water. Then, check the water quality with test strips.
