This is a North Carolina Native American superstition, thought to have possibly originated between the Cherokee and Tuscarora. It is thought to be that the snakes are descendednts of Ro-qua-ho, a vicious ancient lizard known for its blood thristry behavior, killing a snake and hanging it from a tree is thought to be a gift to celesteral beings that helped fight the Ro-qua-ho, thus they bring rain... Where as the Cherokee have a more sacret belif that killing a snake is a bad thing. making the gods angry... thus... bringing rain...

Yes, jaguars can be black due to a genetic variation called melanism. Melanism causes an excess of black pigment, resulting in a dark-colored coat instead of the typical golden-yellow with black spots pattern. Black jaguars are often referred to as "black panthers."
There would be 27 ducks remaining after one of them was shot.
Snake repellents work by emitting strong odors or tastes that are unpleasant to snakes. These odors or tastes can include naphthalene, sulfur, or essential oils like clove or cinnamon. When applied near areas where snakes are unwanted, the repellent deters snakes from entering or remaining in that area.
in the Amazon Hardly helpful. Local zoos often have a snake house, sometimes, there is a specialist Reptile Park. If not, there will be a reptile club and most pet shops will know how to contact them, as they often sell frozen mice and rats, to feed them. They may or may not welcome visitors but I imagine that someone in the club would give you a talk. If you have children, perhaps all the parents could put in a bit of cash and pay a specialist with lizards, snakes, sometimes big spiders, too. Great exciting morning for the kids. Get photo's holding them, etc
