I disagree. I just watched a raccoon attack a squirrels nest in tree, and eat the babies and the mom or dad (not sure). The only survivors was: one adult, one or two baby squirrel. Was horrible. I saw the babies drop out of the nest and the hit the ground as the adult frantically tried to save them. Then the raccoon just sat in the nest for 3 hours and chomped away, tearing off the fur and flesh as he ate them. The adult and one baby (teenager i guess) tried to attack, but it was in vain. Then, the fat ass raccoon, threw the dead carcass out of the nest and walked away.
Raccoons eat small mammals sometimes so it is possible that a raccoon would eat a squirrel.
Adult squirrels are much too fast for a raccoon to catch so would be a rare item on their menu. However, nestling baby squirrels might be eaten.
