Graphite is used to make pencil lead, but it is not a form of coal.
Coal has been used as a fuel for centuries, and sometimes as a crude pencil-type drawing implement.
If you're talking about pencil lead, it's made up of layers and layers of carbon. For example, when you write with pencil, the lines that you make on paper are just layers of carbon that had come off your pencil lead.
Bituminous coal is the most common type of coal.
The type of coal that burns the most efficiently is anthracite coal.
Anthracite is the hardest type of coal.
a no. 1 pencil lead
The stone used in a pencil is lead. x
No. Lead is a realtively good conductor. The insulator is the wood on the outside of the lead.
Coal has been used as a fuel for centuries, and sometimes as a crude pencil-type drawing implement.
wooden pencils contain graphite which is an allotrope of carbon, not lead
The number of the pencil is based on the type of carbon lead used inside. The thicker the carbon lead gets the higher the number of the pencil becomes. If you notice a mechanical pencil is 0.9mm in diameter so it would be called a #0.9 pencil. A #2 pencil's lead is 2mm in diameter. So Why would we call a pencil a #3 pencil? Because it's lead is 3mm in diameter.
It writes like a reagular pencil but when it runs out of lead you press the eraser and more lead comes out. When its out of lead you go buy more depending on the type of mechanical pencil:)
It is quite obvious that the pencil has a wood outside. I'm thinking that you are wonderinh what the black stuff is. The black stuff is called graphite which is a type of carbon. It is considered to be the highest quatity of coal. It is different from lead which lots of people seem to think is the black stuff. So you can be in peace, you can't suffer from lead poisoning from eating the grphaite.
Yes it is i have been using that type of lead on alot of tests.
A pencil works for having carbon inside it. when you put a lead inside it. There is another type of pen pencil
2B stands for 2Black. It is the softness or hardness of a pencil. If you thought there was only one pencil type, think again. There are a variety of lead pencils, ranging in softness or hardness. ^^
What is the mineral used in the pencil that you write with? Graphite.
