If a switch is added, all of the bulbs/lights/motors can be turned on and off at the same time, instead of needing several switches.

Also, if a bulb is dead, you can't tell what bulb is dead because they are all connected.

Disadvantage of series connection: 1.If one point breaks in the series circuit, the total circuit will break. 2.suppose if you want to connect 3 bulbs rated 230v,5A in series the total power consumed is=5*5^2*230W. Its value is very high.the power rating of the source is very high.

the advantage is a higher voltage output... the dissadvantage is a greater source drain, and a greater possibility of sulphating the batteries through a smaller current charging rate
The final power is determined by the battery with the most/highest level of charge

Not need to use a voltage divider circuit and also same amount of current will flow through all component connected in series . i can give u a simple example-

Suppose u have 240 VAC supply and you have 2 120VAC bulb but you have not any step down transformer or any regulator and you want to glow these lams what will you do?

just connect these bulb in series and connect to 240 VAC this is the fact and advantage.
