Accurate numbers are difficult to obtain since many of the persecuted are in hiding or under repressive control. However, it has been estimated that 200 million Christians are directly persecuted (interrogation, torture, or death) with a further 200-400 million being discriminated against and restricted. According to Open Doors USA, over 100 million Christians worldwide suffer interrogation, arrest and even death for their faith in Jesus Christ with millions more facing discrimination and alienation.
Christians are persecuted because of their faith. They are often especially targeted by Satan when they are doing things he disapproves of, so persecution on account of your faith is recognition from your enemy.
Jesus came into the world to die for our sins right ?
and that would be the last time that he would die for us and save our sins
some people take it for granted but others don't
they listen to God ways and instruction and then suffer for their consequences
while the sinners of the world who have done bad will be thrown into hell
Now you cant tell how much people are persecuted
they have been 1000s of people all around the world teaching the goodness of God
but some people think it is folly and they do all sorts of things to them
even though the people who minister they suffer through pain God will always reward them in heaven
Untold millions. There is no known number but in heaven. It may very well have been far more than even the Jews Holocaust, but since it was never officially recorded, the numbers are lost to history for the most part. But the Christians, especially those of the Ana-Baptist belief system, have been martyred many times through history.
Nero of Rome killed many thousands, as did Caesar Marcus Ariellious. Other Emperors killed many Christians as well. The Popes of the Roman Catholic Institution killed the most. The Inquisition also killed millions.
Even today - in Muslim nations, in Buddhist Nations, and in Hindu Nations many more thousands have died for their simple wish to practice freely their own faith. Communism has also been a enemy and murder of Christians. China, is the biggest thug on the block these days. Their government only allows "state sponsored" churches to worship - all others are suppressed and persecuted.
Protestants, Baptists, and in some rare cases, Catholics have all suffered torture and martyrdom throughout history.
Yes. Christians have been persecuted since the days of Christ and prophecies in the Book of Revelation indicate they always will be. The kinds of persecution that Christians experience varies from country to country. Below are just a few examples.
SUDAN
In Sudan Christians are experiencing some of the most violent persecution in the world. Because of Sudan's Islamic government, Christians have been denied freedom of worship and Christian leaders are killed. Many Christians were forced to either convert to Islam or be ghettoized in Muslim-controlled area. Churches have been burned and thousands upon thousands have been killed. These acts have been happening on and off for about sixty years. At one point, the Sudanese government made it legal to get information out of Christians by means of torture and crucifixion (as a form of mockery). Thankfully, though, in the past year the southern part of Sudan has become its own country (now called the Republic of South Sudan). This will at the very least allow some protections for Sudanese Christians.
CHINA
China's communist government doesn't fully approve of Christianity. Because of this, many Christians in China cannot find places to worship and even more have a hard time securing a Bible. The Chinese government is making it especially hard for Christianity to spread--even going so far as to monitor emails that say things like "God bless" or anything remotely Christian. Americans and other travelers who go to China are encouraged by the government not to share their Bibles with Chinese citizens (lest more Chinese people become Christian than the government deems fit). The Chinese government is beginning to realize though that the spread of Christianity is doing some wonderful things for the country. In Christian districts, the crime and murder rates have dropped significantly. Hopefully, the Chinese government will begin to see Christianity differently in the years to come.
THE UNITED STATES
Obviously people are not being killed for their faith in America. The kinds of persecution that goes on withing this country are very subtle. For example, "secular" thinking (which is now code for "atheistic" thinking, though by definition it shouldn't be) is now making it possible to discredit and fire Christians in scientific fields on the grounds that we Christians are "delusional" and therefore can't be asked to think objectively or rationally. If you don't believe me, read any book written by Richard Dawkins. When a scientist announces that he/she is a Christian, he/she makes probably the worst career move. How sick is that?
Also, faith and politics have crossed over each other due to the political divide between Republicans and Democrats. While I know both several non-Christian Republicans and several Christian Democrats, people often associate the political ideals of Republicans with the ideals of the Christian faith. Our faith then is given a stigma for being "right-wing" and ridiculed by the democratic party in debates over such things as abortion and personal rights. As it turns out, there are several non-Christian people that are against abortion.
Regardless of where you look, society will be against Christianity and Christians in some way, shape, or form. Satan is always looking for ways to target Christians--some more obvious than others. But Jesus tells us to look on the bright side. He says we are to rejoice when we are persecuted. He tells us that the world hates us because it first hated him. It's just the ongoing sign that the work on earth isn't done yet. But there will be a day of justice. To learn more about that day, read the Book of Revelation.
Answer:
Because they want to live a Godly life.
2 Timothy 3:12 - "Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."
They aren't, at least not in America.
Easy: because the ruler of this world objects violently to Christ and His message. The ruler of this world, or as Our Blessed Lord calls him, the prince of this world is the devil, and he has most of the world under his influence; and Our Blessed Lord promised us persecution in this world because of Him: Matt 5:11, Matt 24:9, John 15:18-19, etc. Believe me, the only time you have to be worried is if the world is not persecuting you!
We have first to ask, "What is it that makes you feel Christians are being persecuted?" What some Christians mistake for persecution are simply the legal and ethical processes of a multi-cultural, post-christian society.
There have been millions of Christians persecuted for their faith, so it is not possible to list all their names. Many are unknown since persecution often occurs away from public scrutiny.
Actually, no one did. Christians are still persecuted today.
Christians had meetings at night because they were persecuted, and they wanted their meetings to be secret. In some parts of the world, Christians are still persecuted today.

The reasons why the individual Christians were persecuted in this period were varied. They were perhaps scapegoats, their faith attacked where more personal or local hostilities were at issue.
