Answer 2

First, we should clarify that we are talking about Lesser Jihad and not Greater Jihad. Greater Jihad, which is an introspective journey to conquer your internal demons and follow the Divine Laws more closely than previously, there should be no violence that derives from this jihad, and certainly no killing. As concerns the Lesser Jihad, this is usually in the form of warfare between Muslims and Non-Muslims or other Muslims.

Muslims are quick to point out that the attacking of civilians is a violation of the terms of a Lesser Jihad, but there are serious debates in the Islamic communities worldwide as to what a "civilian" is. A number of leading Sheikhs, including Egypt's Qaradawi, for example, have held that since almost all Israelis are drafted in the Israeli Defense Forces, there is no civilian population in Israel and targeting Israeli non-combatants is NOT a violation of the jihad requirements to avoid civilian deaths. Bin Laden and his ilk have expanded these rulings to say that all people in a democracy publicly vote on the government and are, therefore, responsible for its decisions. In that way, targeting the non-combatants in a democracy would NOT be a violation of the jihad requirements to avoid civilian deaths. Muslims who follow these perspectives are willing to perform violent acts against civilians. In most cases, these civilians are Non-Muslims.

One particularly recent example of Non-Muslims killed in a declared jihad are the Assyrian Christians and Yazidis being hunted down by ISIL in northern Iraq. Whether ISIL is properly within the terms of a Lesser Jihad when it performs these activities is hotly debated in Islamic circles, but it is incorrect to say that Non-Muslims are not being killed as a result of something that is, at least facially, a jihad. Other examples include the Palestinian Intifadas which primarily targeted Jewish Israeli civiians, the Mumbai bombing which targeted primarily Hindu Indian civilians, etc.

Of course no. It is the opposite. Muslims are commanded by God to treat people; of all beliefs and cultures; friendly, kindly, and peacefully unless they fight us on our religion or they occupy our lands and drive us away from our homes

In the Quran, Holy book of Islam, God has said (meaning English Translation):

" God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers."(Quran, chapter 60/ verse 8)

Even in time of war, Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) used, in any military conflict, to prohibit soldiers from killing women, children, old people, or any civilian. He would advise them: {...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.} And he also said: {Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.}

Also, the Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) listed murder as the second of the major sins (the first major sin is denying the oneness of God), and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, {The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.}

Quran states that Allah (God) created all people from Adam and Eve and made them in different cultures, races, and faiths to compete and cooperate together for the mankind prosperity and not to fight.

Those who think that Muslims hate Christians can refer to the Quran sayings (meaning English translation):

".... You will find the nearest in love to Muslims those who say "we are Christians'. That is because amongst them are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world and they are not arrogant. And when they listen to the Quran revelation received by the Messenger (Muhammad), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognized. ... So because of what they said, Allah (God) rewarded them ...."

[Quran, chapter 5, verses 82-86]

God explains in Quran that he caused the different nations with different beliefs only for them to compete in doing good deeds that bring them closer to God, but not to stay in conflict or hatred. Quran says:

"... If Allah had willed, He would have made you one nation (one belief), but that may test you in what He has given you; so compete in good deeds; then God will inform you about that in which you used to differ"[Quran, chapter 5, verse 48]

In addition, the Quran Golden Rule says (Meaning English translation):

"There is no compulsion in religion..."[Quran, Chapter 2, Verse 256]

There are numerous reasons why people are killing other people, which should not be happening. However, if the focus was on the reasons for non muslims killing muslims, I would have to say that the primary reason is because the media has successfully brainwashed a large percentage of the worlds population into believing that Muslims are monsters. To provide the detail on why the media is brainwashing the public would be too controversial a topic to dicuss on this platform.

_________________________________________

Islam is a religion of peace and respect of all other faiths and is against violence, racism, and discrimination. However, biased non Muslim Media visioned Islam as the religion of terrorism and violence. This led innocent non Muslims kill Muslims. The other reason is the fear of spread of Islam for its truthfulness and authenticity. Refer to related questions below.

Generally speaking, NO, but there are some occasions under which killing Non-Believers is justified under Islamic Law. Some Muslims agree with all or some of these restricted permissions to kill Non-Believers and other Muslims reject them as antiquated, violent, and/or against the true meaning of the Qur'an.

For example, a lot turns on Qur'an 5:33, which specifically says: "Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,"

As a result, Islamic Jurisprudence has spent a lot of time trying to determine what "striving upon the earth to cause corruption" means and wildly different results have come out. Some argue that it is simply a restatement of "waging war against Allah and His Messenger", meaning that people who go to war against Muslims or cause violence in those countries. Some argue that it refers to anyone who violates the general precepts of an Islamic State, such as engaging in blasphemy, apostasy, homosexuality, idolatry, etc. There are many other interpretations in between.

Does killing occur in the jihad?

Yes.

What is jihad for Allah?

Jihad does not mean'holy war'. Jihad means 'struggle, striving'. Any action done in the way of Almighty Allah, by mouth (preaching Islam), spending money, or by physical means is Jihad in Islam. The greatest Jihad is fighting against one's own evil passions, being honest and just in daily routine matters is Jihad. Anyhow, if some force unjustly attacks Islam and tries to uproot it, the Muslim states must wage Jihad till peace is resored. It will be a holy war. Declaring Jihad in this situation is the responsibility of Muslim States. No individual or a group of Muslims is authorised to declare Jihad. These are the insane and mad people who kill innocent people in the name of Islam. They have nothing to do with Islam. Islam means 'peace', not war or killing. According to Islam, Killing of one innocent human is like killing the whole humans.

Do Muslims believe that god approves of killing in the jihad?

yes

What religion is the Islamic Jihad?

jihad is basically when the Muslims put Allah before everything. Someone told the Arabs that if they die killing Christians or Jews then when they go to heaven they will get 100 wives. This is the reason why men tried to kill the Christians and the Jewish people.

How is jihad misunderstood?

Every concept, or word for a concept, has two meanings: what the user wishes it to mean and what it means to the listener, based on his or her experience. Jihad means "struggle" and some wish to use it to mean "interior effort to reach self-perfection" kind of struggle. Many people however heard it to mean "holy war" based on the number of Muslims who have committed atrocities while claiming they were on jihad (the Arabic word for "jihad-ers" is "mujahideen"). Some Muslims wish "jihad" to mean the latter (i.e., killing people). Others think Western interpretation of this sort is unfair to them. It's something of a problem to say which version is "correct" without being able to read the speaker's mind. A perfectly analogous situation surrounds the word "crusade": to a Westerner, "crusade" means a dedicated effort to correct something, as in "Crusade against Illiteracy" or "Crusade for Clean Water." To Muslims, however, the term only means "military action against Muslims."

What are some of the controversies based around Islam today?

Meaning of Jihad: People all over the world have changed its meaning and put totally out of context. JIHAD: means 'to struggle' which is according to the holy Quran. It never meant HOLY WAR.. or any WAR; it has nothing to do with killing or torturing.

Where can you buy a Jihad watch?

One cannot buy a Jihad watch it is not a time piece. Jihad watch is a website that is run by Robert Spencer that covers all things Islam and teaching the world that not all Islamic people think like a Jihad.

What is the name of an Islamic holy war?

Jihad. A person who goes on jihad is a mujahid. However, the word actually means "struggle," and a generous interpretation defines holy war as "lesser jihad" and struggle within oneself as "greater jihad," so you can make the argument that simply saying jihad means holy war is oversimplistic. Those who identify themselves a mujahideen, however, are generally NOT claiming that they're engaged in rigorous self-examination.
