Pumpkins are a squash-like fruit.
They grow on a vine. A fruit is a a vegetable that has an edible substance around the seed or seeds.
A pumpkin is a type of squash. A berry is defined a fruit with a ripened ovary. Technically a pumpkin is a berry just like a watermelon.
It is a fruit because a pumpkin is a fleshy plant that has seeds in it and comes from a flower. Most people group sweet edible produce as fruits and less-sweet produce as vegetables. In that case, a pumpkin would be considered a vegetable.
Yes, even though it's a "culinary vegetable", botanically speaking it's a fruit: a seed-bearing structure derived from the ovaries of a plant.
Botanically speaking,yes.
They are in the family of Cucurbitaceae together with melons and squash. Cucumbers are classified as epigynous berries or false berries, as they develop from an inferior ovary. Cranberries and blueberries are also false berries, as opposed to those who fully develop from a single ovary such as grapes and tomatoes.

A pumpkin is a fruit because of it's seeds. Though most people believe it to be a vegetable, it is most certainly a fruit.

A grape is considered a berry. But, it has many more similarities to a melon. It has stripe-like veins like a watermelon, it has a less penitrible outer skin than a berry (which in proportion could be an edible rind),and it grows on a vine NOT A BUSH (which berries do). Also, I looked up the definition of a melon, and it said melons are usually a crimson or a deep pink, which grapes are! Just look at the names- strawBERRY, blueBERRY, blackBERRY, raspBERRY- grape. Also, I looked up the science behind melons on wikipedia. It said that melons have a fleshy core (grapes have that much more than berries). It also said the melon genus is Citrullus. Citrullus is latin for desert vines- GRAPES GROW ON VINES! The genus of a creature is the most specific, important part of their realtionship with their kingdom. Therefore, a grape is scientifically a melon- yet it is considered a berry. So if anyone who has read this has the communication: GRAPES ARE REALLY MELONS!
You may think a pineapple is part of the melon family, but it isn't. It's actually a berry! Bleh! Bleh! Bleh! Bye!

Yes. Scientifically speaking they are actually (along with bananas and tomatoes) classed as a berry as they are a fruity sac that contains the seeds of the plant.
