Usually - no, unless it's one that folds and either has a belt drive or a fully enclosed chain. Some routes may have bike carriers on the front or the rear of the bus where you can hang the bike as you get on the bus.
But keep in mind that this is all down to the operator of the bus line, and the driver. Some operators will allow bikes on the buses, as long as there's room for them.
