you're not allowed any liquids on the airplane but items such as toothpaste and hair gel you're allowed to bring amounts that are enough for one person and that's it and they have restrictions over that too.
you're best bet is to just buy it wherever you're going they sell hair gel everywhere

∙ 14y agoNot if it is over 3 oz. It also must be in a container made by the company that makes the gel. Some of the travel stores would like you to believe that their clear plastic travel containers will pass the TSA. WRONG. They throw them away. When I flew last summer to Russia everything I took I kept sealed. Your carry on makeup, tooth paste, and other things like that also must be in a zip lock bag together. I used a small zippered pouch that they let pass. They are very fussy about this stuff.
