It depends on the thickness and the density. One ton should be about 15 cubic feet when compacted, so it would cover 30 square feet 6 inches thick or 45.
One ton of river rock will comprise a volume of rock. How much area that covers depends on what depth it is covered to.

== == A square foot is a (two dimensional) measure of area, while a ton is a measure of weight. The two do not equate. On the other hand, a ton of a specific substance could have a specific (three dimensional) volume. For instance, if a one cubic foot concrete block weighed 100 pounds, 20 concrete blocks would equal a (US) ton.
1 ton.
The area of Tri Ton District in Vietnam is approximately 488 square kilometers.
It would depend on what item the ton is comprised of. The area of a ton of feathers would be greater than the area of a ton of concrete. Answer 2 It would also very much depend on how thick the material was. A ton of feathers might take up less room than a ton of concrete if the feathers were a mile high and the concrete was an inch thick.
If I had one ton of lead in one block what would its dimensions be? 1 metric ton of lead is 88.18cm3
There are three measurements referred to as "ton" -Short ton (2,000 lbs.)Long ton (2,240 lbs.)Metric ton (or tonne, 1,000 kg./2204.6226218 lbs.)Assuming all three substances are measured in the same type of ton, they would all weigh the same - a ton is a unit of weight, not of density or area.
Square metres are an area, a ton is a mass the units are incompatible.
That does not make any sense because a ton is a measurement of weight and a square meter measures a flat area.

"A ton" can be taken in opinion. In some parts of the world, 1 inch would be thought of as a ton due to lack of rain in that area. In other areas, 80 inches could be though of as a ton, while 60 is not. This is up to opinion.
The rule of thumb is 400 sq ft per ton, but that is not always accurate. HVACCALC will show you why.
