Taurus uses chains. If it is a 3.0 liter 12 valve engine, it has one chain. If it is the 3.0 DOHC 24 valve engine, it has two chains.

On my 1998 24v DOHC Sable I get a consistent 20 in the city, but only mid-20's on the highway.
If you are swapping the Vulcan OHV engine, it will work without issue. If you are attempting to swap the Duratec DOHC engine, it will bolt in, but the computer will not be capable of running the engine.
