Go to a craft store and in the craft paint section you will find a acrylic paint color called patina. My brand is called Folk Art by Plaid # 427. To apply to your box get a soft rag and put a bit of the paint on it. It will come out a green color. Rub this on to the box all over. Apply as much as you want, but keep rubbing it in. You will see your box will take on an aged look as you apply this. I also use a bit of bronze acrylic by the same company to enhance it and apply it the same way by rubbing it. I finish by rubbing in a gold acrylic to give it a bit more of an aged look. Stop when you get the exact look you want. I have used this method on wood and other items. It works.
Check with the craft store.
