The Satanic Baptism of 3 year old Zeena LaVey taken place at 9pm on 23rd May in 1967 in the Main Ritual Chamber at 6114 California Street (formally known as the Black House. Present were: High Priest Anton LaVey, "Living Altar", Zeena LaVey, High Priestess Diane LaVey.

At the age of 3, I was the world's first famous Satanic toddler. Afterall what better choice for the Church of Satan's first legal baptism than its High Priestesses and High Priest's own daughter?

I knew of course that all of the people packed into the house that day were there to pay tribute to me .

Sitting high on the altar, I had the perfect vantage-point to survey all my subjects. Imperiously, I surveyed the sea of black-hooded celebrants.

It took me a few years to realise that some of them may have been more fascinated with the naked women sprawled on the altar than with me.

Calmly chewing on a stick of Trident fruit-flavoured gum, I delighted in being the focal point of all this activity. "I have something they don't," I thought proudly, in keeping with the indulgent philosophy of Satanism.

Photographers, who had been gathering outside the house at 6 A.M., were now doing anything to get closer for clear shots of me.

By late May my serious, cherubic face had been slapped on every magazine and newspaper from Sweden to Japan, Argentina to Alaska.

Through out my life I would replay the words intoned during my baptism:

"The may footed walkers give to you the strength, the power of red fang and claw,

all the madly dancing demons fill you with the lost knowledge of ancient ones.

Small sorceress, most natural and true magician, your tiny hands have the power to pull the living heavens down and from its shards build a monument to your own

sweet indulgence… And with these others in the devil's fane, you so will cause the

heads of men to reel and spin, you will fill them with desire. And so we dedicate

your life to love, to passion, to indulgence, and to Satan and the way of darkness,

fane. Hail Zeena! Hail Satan!"

I had a brief, privite ritual that I performed nearly every other day, shortly after the release of The Satanic Mass . This consisted of placing the record on my turntable, centering a figure of the Statue of Liberty over the spindle, and focusing on the spinning statue and the red record label. Finding the track containing my baptism, I would play the "Hail Zeena!" incessantly. I don't know many 3-year-olds experience as much ego exaltation and adrenalin-rush from a single event as I did!

I've always felt that I am able to use any given person or situation to my own advantage.

I became the first individual in history to exist as a Satanist since birth, with my baptism my first formal initation. I have always regarded this with the utmost respect and reverence, and have never for a moment wavered in understanding this to be the definition of my life.
