My dog is 13 and has a bladder infection, with Kidney stones. He has never pottied in the house. I put down pads for him to go on and there is blood in his urine. I took him to the Vets and he is on meds for the past month. My question is, can a human get the same infection from a dog? I woke up and found lots of blood on the toilet paper. No blood in the toilet. I am 66 have not had a period in 35 years due to a hysterectomy. Even my husband was shocked at the amount. Went to the doctor immediately. She gave me meds. Said, I did have a lot of blood show up on the urine test. After I wiped in her office. More blood. Could this have been contagious from my dog since I clean up his pads and such?
Yes. Typically, they have urine dribbling, unusual accidents in the house, or constant asking to go outside (maybe once per hour or more) and may be accompanied by a fever (shivering and panting at the same time are signs of a high fever if you do not have a thermometer).
UTIs are non transferable, but you should always ask your vet, no matter what the problem, they are always happy to clear up any uncertainty
I don't think that type of infection is fatal. It is not fatal in humans. This is just very painful especially for a small animal.
No, they are two totally different things. But someone that has a urinary tract infection can give their sex partner an urinary tract infection. Since it is an infection one will need antibiotics
A urinary tract infection also called a UTI, is an infection that occurs in the urinary tract of either a female or male. They are much more common in women. A person can get a UTI if bacteria get into the urinary tract. The infection usually begins in the bladder and travels down from there. Symptoms include painful urination, lower belly pain, cloudy urine, and possible nausea.
