Heroin(Diacetylmorphine) itself does not and cannot lead to gout. However, the adulterants in the cut can cause it. I myself, after snorting very powerful heroin on daily basis for months, have developed symptoms of gout. I can barely move my elbow, and my heel is inflamed, red and really hurts. Gout caused by adulterated heroin is FATAL. If you have been injecting and are seeing symptoms of gout, that means your kidneys have been unable to excrete uric acid and the acid itself is forming into crystals and causing painful symptoms. Depending on your method of administration, you only have so long after noticing symptoms of gout before you are in a serious serious situation. If you inject heroin and have just begun seeing symptoms of gout, by all means STOP SHOOTING THAT BATCH OF DOPE! Renal failure symptoms have a slow onset after actual kidney failure, meaning the moment you realize you're in renal failure it's too late--you immediately go on Dialysis and get put on the list for a kidney transplant. Everybody -- if you're going to take heroin due to addiction, please do everything in your power not to inject, but even snorting/smoking lets the adulterants do harm to your body(but in a marginally lesser way). Heroin itself does nothing but increase morphine and monoacteylmorphine levels in your brain, it's the adulterants you have to worry about. Again, I will reiterate this -- if you are having symptoms of gout and are injecting heroin, STOP INJECTING AND GET TO A HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY, YOUR KIDNEYS ARE FAILING.
I am surprised there's scarce documentation about this on the internet, as many adulterants found in east coast Heroin, especially in the more powerful bags, lead to Gout.
