If you were required to pay a security deposit prior to moving in, overpayment would not apply to that unless you have a verbal or written agreement with the landlord. Typically, if you make an overpayment on rent, it would be applied to next month's balance.

How do I get a errored overpayment corrected?

It would depend on what kind of overpayment you are referring to. If it is like for a credit card or utility bill, they will likely just give you credit. If it is for a mortgage payment then the extra amount will be applied to your principle.

Joint lease can you sue a roomate who has not paid rent or damages to your old residence?

Yes you can. Be sure to have as much documentation as possible (contractor/rent reciepts along with banking info) since the liability will be determined by tribunal or court. Also on the damages--be prepared to show that the damages are the fault of the roommate who you are suing and were not caused by you.

Can a landlord evict you for not paying rent when on sec 8 and tenant has damages reported to sec 8?

These are two separate issues: the first issue is whether the landlord can evict you for not paying rent. It doesn't matter whether you are on section 8: if you do not pay your rent on time the landlord does have the right to evict you. Whether you have reported any damages to the Housing Authority is irrelevant. If the damages that you reported to the Housing Authority is relevant to substandard living conditions, they have the right to have these damages corrected by the landlord or the landlord will not be paid their portion of your housing assistance payment (and you may not be responsible for your portion). Only if the Housing Authority tells you that you do not have to pay your rent would this be applicable. But if you have not received such notice, you are obliged to pay the rent on time.

Can you use a deposit for the last months rent?

This would depend on the landlord. If you landlord says yes to this, which I seriously doubt. Then obviously when you moved out you wouldn't get it back. Talk to the landlord about your situation. Maybe something can be worked out.
