I used heroin for over a year and during that time did not have my period. In order to get my life together and get on the track to a sober life i have now been on methadone for five months. Even not doing heroin and only being on the methadone I still have no had my period. It has been now about a year and a half since I remember having one. I have seen a doctor and neglected to tell the obgyn about my drug use but did discuss my lack of a period. The doctor advised me that It is most likely that I am very thin and do not have enough body fat for a period. She also advised me that my weight fluctuating is worse than it being consistently low because constantly gaining and losing weight could cause cardiac arrest. Overall, I do believe both methadone, heroin, other opiates, and or low body fat percentage any of the above could certainly cause you not to have a period for quite some time.
