They do not nor have they ever publically sanctioned the practice of polygamy, and have been known to have somewhat strict teachings regarding marriage and divorce. A search on their official website for "Polygamy" yielded no results.

This is impossible for an outsider ( which I am) to answer this properly. Basically the Church of God is a pentecostal church with its roots in a 19th century revival in america. The Church of God of Prophecy is a denomination which has common roots with this organisation. The problem with reformed churches is that they are constantly splitting over hairline issues and there are almost as many protestant denominations as there are believers. Readers of the Bible will remember that Abraham and Jacob Israel were affiliated with this practice. Even the great King David had multiple wives. No human can understand Heavenly Father's reasons for commanding that a man have more than one wife. However, when the representative who speaks for God a prophet says that God wants you to do something, you do it. That is what happened back in the day. God told Joseph Smith that He wanted them to practice plural marriage and so they did.
