Only if the processor has special 64-bit extensions, known as AMD64 or EM64T. Certain Pentium 4 processors, all Core 2 processors, and all AMD Athlon 64 processors have these extensions, and can thus run 64-bit operating systems and programs.

PC = Personal Computer. Mac OS = the Operating System used by Apple's Macintosh computers. X86 = A 32 bit processor. Do you need 32bit or 64bit for 4gb of ram?

You can use either a 32bit or 64bit operating system (OS) for 4GB of RAM. 4GB of memory is the limit a 32bit OS can handle, this includes any memory that your graphics card has, so your computer may recognise only 3.5GB of RAM if you have a 512MB GPU. You will need a 64bit os that will use all of the ram.

How t0 know that windows is 32bit or 64bit?

The easiest way is to check Program Files folder. If you have two of them one is Program Files, another one is Program Files x86 then you have Windows x64, if you have only one Program Files, you have Windows x32.
