The short answer is "not usually as a business". Because of health regulations, states typically require inspections, and (at least where I live), you cannot use the kitchen for anything other than your business. So if you want to set up a separate kitchen in your house (which theoretically could be something small, depending on what you're making), you can actually do it. But it's not just a matter of using your kitchen as a business, unless you're working off the record, which would require all of your clients to keep it secret as well.
