If the atmosphere on mars was able to sustain life, then yes you would be able to eat there, assuming you had some food.

There have never been astronauts on Mars. The current plan, once we start landing people there in the late 2020s, is for them to eat food that was freeze-dried beforehand, as well as food that is brought from Earth for cultivation.

If plants were to grow on Mars the proper artificial environment would have to be created by a colony and they could grow just about anything they chose. I would imagine it would be plants that would provide food for the colony.

Not that we know of; Mars is totally barren except for some ice at the poles, which is mostly carbon dioxide. Water cannot exist on Mars in a liquid state, and so vegetation cannot grow.
